Truth: Quotations About That and Uncle Jack's Cabin, Cabin #15

This is where final edits of A Gift of Love happened.
Uncle Jack's Cabin, Cabin #15, Boyds Mills, December 2013.

There is sunshine out my window today. The rains have passed, and spring continues to spring. Through an open window, sounds of lawnmowers mowing grass fills the air. Today I share quotations on truth. I hope they inspire you to pick up your pen and write something. Or, to simply be honest as you go about your daily life.

See you in print,

Honesty for a writer is rather different from honesty for others. Honesty, ouside literature, means not lying, establishing trust through honorable conduct, absolute reliability in personal and professional dealings. In writing, honesty implies something rather different: it implies the accurate, altogether truthful, reporting of feelings, for in literature only the truth is finally persuasive and persuasiveness is at the same the measure of truth. One might think this would be easy enough to do, but it isn't especially when one is under the added pressure of making both the feelings and the reporting of them keenly interesting. --Joseph Epstein

Truth is often drowned in rhetoric. --B. Zawadski

Written truth is four-dimensional. If we consult it at the wrong time, or read it at the wrong pace, it is as empty and shapeless as a dress on a hook. --Robert Frudin

Good writers define reality; bad ones merely restate it. A good writer turns fact into truth; a bad writer will, more often than not, accomplish the opposite. --Edward Albee

That's it for today.

Until this time next time, be well, stay safe, keep cute. ;)
