It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Today I share quotes on Plagiarism. Last week I had dinner with a friend and the subject of copy-catting someone else's work came up. As a writer who is inspired by other writer's works and will remain focused to give credit where credit is due, I share these quotes with you. I lovingly scooped them from "W.O.W., Writers on Writing" by Jon Winokur. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I do.
"Whatever has been well said by anyone is mine."--Seneca
"The difference between a bad artist and a good one is: The bad artist seems to copy a great deal, the good one really does."--William Blake
"Good swiping is an art in itself."--Jules Feiffer
"The Eighth Commandment was not made for bards."--Samuel Taylor coleridge
"No man ever yet became great by imitation."--Samuel Johnson
"Immature artists imitate. Mature artists steal."--Lionel Trilling
"The immature poet imitates; the mature poet plagiarizes."--T. S. Eliot
See you in print,
