A Gift of Love, A Widow’s Memoir
“A Gift of Love, A Widow’s Memoir” is a glimpse into the world of one woman’s journey into discovering and eventually losing the love of her life. I found this book to be honest and poignant and most importantly, memorable. Ms. Della Donna’s writing provides the reader the feeling of experiencing every step of her journey; relishing her relationship with her husband, blending each of their families together and their travels to exotic destinations to the Orient, Caribbean islands and more. Of course, life is intertwined with love and heartache and the reader lives every moment with Della Donna’s memories.
I found this book to be one that I couldn’t put down. I never met Ed Sclier (Linda’s husband), but after reading her book, I feel that he would be reminded of why he married this talented woman. Because of the difficulties of her husband’s end of life, Ms. Della Donna has made it her life’s purpose to provide comfort and understanding to other widows around the world by maintaining a blog in their honor. After all, she famously writes, that at some point in everyone’s life, we are inducted into the club that no one wants to join, which is widowhood.
This book provides all the joy and pain of a life well lived. You can’t get much better than that.
