Newt Today, Mitt Tomorrow - The Villages

There are more than 90,000 residents who make their home in The Villages. The majority are Republican voters.

Today, at 1:45 p.m. EST, Republican Presidential hopeful, Newt Gingrich, visited The Villages and delivered his campaign speech.

This writer snapped a few photos.

I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Villagers began vying for a good seat as early as 9:00 a.m. for Newt's scheduled 1:45 p.m. arrival.
As Newt fans set out lawn chairs, television media parked their trucks and set up their cameras and recording equipment.
Villagers take a visit from favorite candidates very seriously and dress for the occasion.
These three charming ladies are from Missouri. They came prepared--chairs and supply of bottled water.

 Villagers arrived with signs...
And they waited in hot sun for more than three hours...
The crowd was not just retirees. I spotted this soldier and proudly snapped his photo.
"Still Kickin'," Bluegrass Band cooled the waiting crowd.
The crowd grew...
 ...And grew...
 ...And grew...
 ...It grew larger...

...And larger...

 News media snapping photos.
Newt and his entourage pulled up right on time.

Writing Quote:

Wonderful pictures of the crowd and cameramen, I love the one of the camera guy grinning and waving at you. Sorry not much on Newt, but they are great photos.

Hi Jan,
Thanks for the compliment on photos. Glad you like them. My favorite thing about writing BookOrBust is I get to be a reporter. And as a reporter, I leave judgment and comments to readers. Thanks so much for sharing.
