Club Getaway - Happy Magnificent Monday

"A bird does not sing because it has an answer; it sings because it has a song."--Chinese proverb

If you take the highway from Manhattan south to Route 22, follow it through Brewster and Pawling, as it winds its way through Wingdale and Dover to Route 55 East, eventually you come out on Route 7 in New Milford, Connecticut. Hang a left and follow that road to Kent. Before you know it, soon as you hit the Sunoco gas station, hmmm, or is it a Mobil?, just turn right, again, again, and you are there.

There is Club Getaway, the place where Boomers party hearty, and this past weekend, I was there for a weekend of fun-filled activities.  Think mountain biking, dance lessons, tennis clinic, lake swim, water skiing, dancing, dining, golfing, flying from a trapeze *hey, try it, you'll like it*, softball, kayaking, basketball, and whew!, lots more.

Club Getaway just happens to be the place where sassy singles, loving duos, families, and children of all ages gather to make lasting memories. "Boomer" weekend, for all of you youngsters out there in cyberspace living under a rock, refers to the aging society of which I am a proud card carrying member, and not a loud noise rippling the sky before a storm. I'm just saying.

The Road to Club Getaway - Route 22,  just off 684

At Club Getaway, you are greeted by gracious hostess Bari and tennis pro Ken. Be nice to them, they hand out cabin assignments.

Bags awaiting go-cart delivery to your assigned cabin.

Meet AJ, CG's DJ. And, yes, AJ takes requests--er, music ones, that is.

Ahhhh, a cabin in the woods.

Don't fill up, gang. This is only the before dinner buffet. And, it is scrumptious *now, there's a word I haven't used in awhile.

Catching up and meeting old pals. *Gosh, wish I could read their name tags*

My favorite, The Cheese Tray *yum!*

Dinner on Saturday night with great group of ladies.

More dinner fun.

Rain? No problem. We're indoors having fun making pizzas with Chef A. J. Scalise.

This is my creation. *A little sauce, cheese, some mushrooms, basil and peppers and onions*

Ceiling chandelier of antlers

Pizzas completed, we all lined up for a group photo. *I'm in there somewhere*

Hey, Bari! Say cheese.

Each weekend, Club Getaway creates a special theme dedicated to a specific group. Next weekend is devoted to the 20-30 year olds. Some weekends there is no theme. But, the thing you can count on no matter what theme is going on up there is great food, cheerful camaraderie, endless activities, and good happy fun.

If you happen to make a trip to a favorite place of mine, be sure to pack light, and leave your valuables home. Think camp. The only thing needed for a Club Getaway adventure is a smile, sneakers, shorts and suit, bathing suit, that is. Oh, and one more thing: Look for me. I just might be the lady behind the desk greeting you as you check in for your cabin assignment in the woods. I'm just saying.

Have a great week. See you in print.

Sounds and looks like a great weekend if we had known about when we lived in New England I would have looked into it. Although it looks like I would have gained a few pounds lol

Keep an eye on Club Getaway for upcoming events. Weekends are always fun. Especially, if age appropriate.
